How We Handle Customer Service

Most people have a story about a home service company that let them down. Maybe the technician never showed up. Or nobody answered the phone. Or perhaps the scheduling window was somewhere between 8 AM and "maybe this afternoon." And when something went wrong, good luck getting anyone to own it.
We get it. That reputation exists for a reason. And it's a very big reason Sci-Tech Services was founded in the first place.
We've been doing this for over 25 years. And we're committed to doing the basics right every single time. That's harder than it sounds, and it's the reason our customers keep coming back.
Here's what that actually looks like.
The Phone Call
About 90% of our customers reach out by phone first, so we treat that call like it matters. Because it does. You'll get someone who can answer your questions, walk you through what we offer, and give you a quote right there on the phone. The whole thing usually takes about five minutes.
What makes this so quick is that we use a flat-rate pricing model, so with just a few basic questions about what you need done, we can give you an accurate price. No "we'll get back to you in a few days." No online form that disappears into the void.
If you'd rather text or email, that works too. But most people just call, and we make sure that experience is a good one.
But if you need it, we also offer free in-person estimates.
Real Appointment Times
You know the drill. You book a service and they tell you to be home between 8 and noon. So you block off your entire morning, rearrange your schedule, and then sit around waiting.
We don't do that.
When we book your appointment, we give you a specific time. Not a range, not a window. A time.
That's possible because we have a dedicated dispatch team that builds schedules using a mix of scheduling software and hands-on coordination. They know the crews, they know the jobs, they know the geography. So when they put you on the schedule for 10:00 AM, they've built that around a plan that actually works.
Your time matters. We schedule like it does.
Showing Up
Giving a specific time only means something if you actually show up at that time. Our crews arrive when they say they will.
That consistency comes from how we run things. Every technician on our team is a direct employee of Sci-Tech. We don't use subcontractors. That's a deliberate choice. When you hire out to subs, you lose control over how the work gets done, how people show up, and how they interact with customers. We've seen what that looks like in this industry, and it's not the standard we're willing to accept.
Our new technicians shadow experienced crews for several weeks or longer (often months) before they ever work on their own. They learn our standards through repetition, not just a manual. By the time someone shows up at your door, they've been trained on how we do things and they've already done it dozens of times alongside someone who knows the job inside and out.
When Something Isn't Right
We're not going to pretend every single job goes perfectly. Over a million rooms cleaned in 25 years, and sometimes things don't go exactly as planned. What matters is what happens next.
If you're not happy with the result, we send a technician back to fix it. No charge. Our crews are also trained to flag potential issues upfront. If a stain looks like it might be permanent or a surface has limitations, the technician is supposed to let you know before the work starts so there are no surprises.
If we do need to come back for a correction, we don't charge you for the full process again. You only pay for any genuinely additional work beyond what was originally scoped (if you want any). And if we still can't get it right, we issue a refund.
Less than 2% of our jobs result in any kind of complaint or callback. On larger or higher-stakes jobs (and sometimes the small ones too), a supervisor checks the work on-site before the crew wraps up. Problems get caught before you ever see them.
Why This Works
None of this is complicated. Answer the phone. Give people a real appointment time. Show up when you said you would. Stand behind your work. These are basic expectations.
The hard part is doing all of them, consistently, across thousands of jobs, year after year. That takes systems. It takes people who are trained and invested. It takes a support structure behind the scenes that most small service companies just don't have.
We run a large commercial operation in the New River Valley. The majority of our work is servicing property management companies, turning over units, handling maintenance, dispatching crews across the region every day. That side of the business means we have the workforce, the scheduling infrastructure, and the management depth to deliver on these promises for residential customers too.
When you call Sci-Tech, you're not calling a one-truck operation that's stretched thin. You're calling a company with 25 years of process behind every job. Over a million rooms cleaned. Reviews that speak for themselves: 4.8 stars on Google, 4.9 on Angi, 5.0 on Yelp. And a team that picks up the phone.
